I design and build business systems — ERP, stock control, order processing, quoting and reporting — and map the processes behind them first, so the software fits how a business actually works instead of the other way round. Most jobs start with following one process end to end: where the information comes from, who touches it, where it gets rekeyed, and where it falls over. Quite often the fix is the process, not a new system. Where software is the right answer, I build it. I've run the operations side of a small business myself — stock, purchasing, invoicing, VAT — so I've used these systems daily rather than just specified them for someone else. I work best with businesses that have outgrown spreadsheets but don't want a six-figure rollout. Based in Somerset, and happy to work remotely anywhere in the UK.
